Personal Impressions 2002/2003 Back from Buenos Aires, about Milongas,
People and Banks.
=========================================
Dancing is still a main Topic in Argentina! - At first glance nearly nothing changed, you see the same faces like always.
But the Crisis is much bigger than in the "old" Europe, here Politicians systematically robbed the Land, so that Starvation and Poverty still rises
For Tango-Dancers here, this is "fatal". one of the most used Words here.
Even though the people go out and spend their money in Milongas: this is because the Milonga is THE social Meeting Place. Numerous Milongas still develop - and by the beginning of Summer, which we participated in December, many outdoor-Milongas get popular, too. Also the Quarter-Milongas, visited by older people, are well-visited still.
the Dance Tradition still goes on, and Knowledge is being given to each other - also younger Stardancers still dance in tight Postures in the Evenings with the older Milongueros - and und auch die jungen Star-taenzer(-innen) tanzen
weiter an den Abenden in der traditionellen engen Haltung mit
den alten Milongueros. - with Honor.
What you could see in Buenos Aires by the Beginning of December?: Numerous Demonstrations with many Members - Banks were equipped with steel-shieldings in the Lower Floors - For protection against the Demonstrationen: similary as a huge Resonance to the Latinamerican Variant of the Protest - the cacerolazo (Loud smashing Cooking pots). Here Protesting is operated by smashing Cookingpots etc.: So the arm people can at least acustacally make their protest being heard.
At the same tim we had a very nice time in Buenos Aires - Life
goes on for the Portenuos also, though one is being affirmated
to the Thesis, that Berlin would the 2nd biggest Tango-City of
the world: But as always a comparison isn't legitimate, because
in Buenos Aires there isn't much, nothing - for a long time -
only then other Cities.
